Here’s a hearty CONGRATS to the first 500 Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) graduates! Your accomplishment is hugely important for our field of Change Management, its practitioners worldwide, and the organizations we serve. Thank you for leading the way and doing all the hard work to achieve the CCMP credential.
Why is the CCMP relevant?
As I wrote in the July edition of this newsletter, successful and sustainable change starts with us as change leaders. And to lead change, we need to adopt a “growth mindset” and grow ourselves first, so we can support organizations in their transformational journeys. I invite you to consider these questions:
How often have you been frustrated that organizations appear to make the same mistakes again and again, resulting in the high failure rate (70% or more) of change?
Are you aware of all the many significant advancements in the change management field, and best practices deduced from leaders in your own and other industries grappling with issues similar to yours?
Can you imagine the vast and powerful impact that would be possible if we all committed to continuous learning and capitalizing on our shared experience?
The CCMP demonstrates that change agents are investing in themselves for the benefit of those they serve – role modeling the change they wish to see in the world. As the saying goes, “if it’s gonna be, it’s up to me!”
For those of you who may not be familiar with it, the CCMP credential is part of the excellent work the Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP) is spearheading to advance the Change Management discipline and profession, similar to what the PMI has done for Project Management and ICF for Coaching. As explained on its website, “with the launch of the CCMP, ACMP provides a credential differentiating change management professionals who can demonstrate they are investing in their ongoing development and can successfully apply their experience to respond to typical change management situations.”
